This week i have to show you about Risda.
RISDA
The Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority, or RISDA as it better known, is a federal statutory body under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (MRRD). It was established on 1st January 1973 under the powers passed by the Parliament:
i) Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority Act 1972 (Act 84)
ii) Rubber Industry (Replanting) Fund Ordinance 1952

Function
The main functions of RISDA as stated in Act 85 of 1972 are follows:
i) To administer the Rubber Industry (Replanting) Fund, which was established under Section 3 of the Rubber Industry (Replanting) Fund Ordinance 1952?
ii) To manage and implement schemes approved under the provision of part III of the same ordinance.
iii) To plan and implement all innovations for the smallholder sector.
Responsibilities
To realize the above function, RISDA undertakes the responsibilities:
i) To implement agricultural innovations emanating from research activities.
ii) To co-operate with other agencies responsible for rubber research, extension, agricultural loan, processing and marketing to expedite the modernization process of the smallholder sector.
iii) To carry out replanting and planting with new clones that can produce higher yields through good agronomic practices.
iv) To ensure that the smallholder is modernized in all aspects to improve the economic standing of smallholders.
v) To gather and maintain the necessary statistics relating to the improvement and development of the smallholder sector as determined by the minister from time to time.
